CISI Certification

If you're thinking of breaking into banking, you've probably thought about studying for a CFA qualification You've probably also contemplated an MBA. Both the IFS and CII options are recognised by the FCA as appropriate qualifications, and are at an academic level called QCF Level 4 which has been confirmed as such by OfQual (the exams regulator). All exams offered by the CISI have a specific purpose; they are not comparable to other courses such as the CFA or CWM which are much broader inscope.

The CISI is the largest and most widely respected professional body for the securities and investment profession in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally. What they say: The CQF is, "designed for in-depth training for individuals working in, or intending to move into, e.g. derivatives, IT, quantitative trading, insurance, model validation or risk management.

Whatever stage you're at in your career, the four differing levels that are offered by CISI qualifications mean that you can find an appropriate platform to kick your education onwards and get learning at the correct entry point, and from the moment you pass you can look to get even further into the profession.

On completion of the exam candidates are informed if they have passed and their mark can be viewed online approximately 48 hours later. Formed in 1992, the (CISI) Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments is one of the largest and most widely respected professional bodies based City of London, related to those who work within the securities and investment industry.

Better for sales and trading than corporate finance (for the investment banking division, try an MBA). This exam requires a minimum of 70% CISI Wealth Mangement passing marks and it is also known as Investment Administration Qualification program. Mr Culhane said the UK had the lowest pass rate of any country taking the CFP qualification but the Financial Planning Standards Board, which oversees the qualification around the world, has been pleased with the changes the Cisi has planned.
